Information about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

We may collect and use information about you if you are a citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA), and in this section of our Privacy Policy, we will explain how and why this data is collected, as well as how we protect this data from being copied or used for the wrong purposes.

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR is a pan-European privacy and data protection law that regulates the protection of EU residents’ data by companies and gives EU residents more control over their personal data.

The GDPR applies to any company operating globally, not just EU-based businesses and EU residents. Our customers’ data is important regardless of their location, so we have implemented GDPR controls as a baseline standard for all our operations worldwide.

What is personal data?

Any data relating to an identified or identifiable individual. The GDPR covers a wide range of information that can be used alone or in combination with other information to identify an individual. Personal data goes beyond an individual’s name or email address. Some examples include financial information, political opinions, genetic data, biometric data, IP addresses, physical address, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.

Data protection principles include the following requirements:

-Personal data collected must be processed fairly, lawfully, and transparently, and used only in a way that is reasonable in relation to the individual’s expectations.

-Personal data must be collected only for a specific purpose and used only for that purpose. Organisations must indicate why they need personal data when they collect it.

-Personal data must be stored for no longer than is necessary to achieve its purpose.

-Individuals covered by the GDPR have the right to access their personal data. They can also request a copy of their data, as well as have it updated, deleted, restricted, or transferred to another organisation.

Why is the GDPR important?

The GDPR adds several new requirements for how companies must protect the personal data of individuals that they collect and process. It also raises the stakes for compliance by strengthening enforcement and setting higher fines for violations. Beyond these facts, it is simply the right thing to do. At GameGlobe Localization, we firmly believe that the privacy of your data is very important, and we have already implemented robust security and privacy measures that go beyond the requirements of this new regulation.

Data subject rights – access, transfer and deletion of data

We are committed to helping our customers comply with the GDPR requirements regarding data subject rights. GameGlobe Localization processes and stores all personal data with fully verified suppliers that meet DPA requirements. We store all conversations and personal data for 6 years, unless your account is deleted. In that case, we delete all data in accordance with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, but do not store it for longer than 60 days.

We understand that if you work with EU customers, you must provide them with the ability to access, update, retrieve, and delete their personal data. We can help! We have been self-service from the beginning and always give you access to your data and your customers’ data. Our customer support team is ready to answer any questions you may have about working with the API.

California residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requires us to disclose the categories of personal data we collect and how we use it, the categories of sources from which we collect personal data, and the third parties with whom we share it, as we have already described above.

We are also required to provide information about the rights of California residents under California law. You may exercise the following rights:

-Right to information and access. You may submit a verified request for information regarding: (1) the categories of personal data we collect, use, or disclose; (2) the purposes for which we collect or use categories of personal data; (3) the categories of sources from which we collect personal data; and (4) the specific personal data we have collected about you.

-Right to equal service. We will not discriminate against you if you exercise your privacy rights.

-Right to deletion. You may submit a verified request to close your account, and we will delete the personal information we have collected about you.

-Request that a business that sells consumer personal data not sell consumer personal data.

If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

We do not sell our users’ personal information.

For more information about these rights, please contact us.
